This is a new art form for me born out of my love for gathering tiny and beautiful things. When I’m in my studio I often have no “plan” for creating. I usually begin by tidying up the place and as they say on occasion “Everything falls into place”.

That’s what happened when I as putting away scrabble letters I’d gathered with the idea of incorporating then into art.

If I go back a little further it’s also about “Do what brings you joy”. I’ve often spent hours on the beach drawing in the sand, arranging sticks and leaves, gathering stones and feathers. This is something I love to do. I love it so much that I often bring a pocket full of small treasures home with me. I guess I’m attempting to bring that wonderful sense of childhood play home with me.

The final element that came in PLAY would be my love of pattern, texture and color. I’d created pieces of art that were just that with no subject or focal point. I would look at them and think “I love this but what am I going to do with it?” They too fell into my happy tidying accident. These are the results…
